Emily Beisel (bass clarinet, electronics) and Bill Harris (drums, electronics), known as Madam Orange, embark this fall on a special East Coast U.S. tour in support of their new record Parallax. Chicago-based improvisers Beisel and Harris use electronics, amplification, and feedback to expand their acoustic sounds, creating sonic worlds that shift from aggressive and dense to subtle and spacious.The duo has toured the Midwest (2024) and the East Coast/Canada (2023). A Jazz Noise describes their work as heavy stuff, sounds retrieved from the deeper places Beisel pokes around in the sonic depths and brings leviathans out to play.As curator, Beisel focuses on increasing femme, trans, and nonbinary visibility in creative performance. They founded the Pleiades Series at Elastic Arts, presenting monthly performances, community-based improvisation sessions, and the biennial PleiadesFest. Brad Rose, Foxy Digitalis Bill HarrisBill Harris is a Chicago percussionist, improviser, and audio engineer. He operates and produces for Amalgam, co-runs the Chicago recording studio Marmalade, and works in improvisation, jazz, noise, rock, and bluegrass.
